Mrs. Rufus A. Kern, of Park Avenue West, received the sad intelligence this morning of the death of her mother, Mrs. Henry C. Mickley, of Seneca Falls, N.Y.  Mrs. Mickley died at a hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. where she went to have an operation performed for spinal trouble.  The operation was made Monday and Mrs. Kern received a letter Wednesday announcing that it had been successful, so that the news of the death was all the more a painful surprise.

Mrs. Mickley was formerly a resident of Mansfield and during the past winter visited several months with her daughter, Mrs. Kern.  She has many friends here who will learn with sorrow of her death.

Mrs. Kern and her brother, Edward Mickley and his wife will go to Seneca Falls tonight to attend the funeral.
