HOWARD SMITH, aged 87 years, son of Edward Smith, cigar maker at Bickel & Merrell's, died Wednesday morning of diphtheria on East Third Street.  The funeral takes place Thursday at 3 o'clock P.M.  Another son is lying dangerously ill from the same disease.
