ILER --- John Iler

...was born in Richland Co., Feb. 26, 1842; when he was about 6 months old, his father died and left a family of four small children to be supported by the mother; being poor, she was compelled to put her children out among strangers; she found a pleasant home for them with John F. RICE, the "old soldier." His mother died when the subject of this notice was about 6 years old; he remained at his adopted home until the fall of 1862, when he enlisted in Co. C, 20th O.V.I., for nine months; after he returned home, he resumed farming. He was married to Miss Mary SHEETS, of Richland Co., they have seven children.
