WAITE --- T. D. WAITE
....blacksmith and agricultural implement dealer; was born in South Wellingham, Lincolnshire, England, April 11, 1825. A brother of his, Mr. William WAITE, came to Plymouth in 1853, their being six children in the family; their father Thomas WAITE, together with Mrs. WAITE, and the balance of the children, came the following year, 1854; and all located in Plymouth and vicinity. T.D. WAITE, the subject of this sketch. was married, in 1872, to Miss E. LADOW, of Auburn Township, Crawford Co.; they have one child.

He was born in Knox County (Now Morrow) in 1809, on the John WALKER farm, on half mile north of Chesterville. WEAVER --- George WEAVER
....(deceased). Maj. WEAVER was born in Dauphin Co., Penn., April 8, 1801. He was married to Christina SHAFER Dec. 4, 1823; he came to this county in 1839, remaining till 1860, when he removed to Hardin Co., where he died Jan. 22, 1872. Through all his life he was a military man.

WEBBER --- Fred H. WEBBER
....farmer; he was born Dec. 29, 1853; he was married in 1876 to Miss Harriet KIRKPATRICK, of Plymouth Township; they have one little boy. His father, Mr. David B. WEBBER, was born in the State of Maine in 1800; came to Plymouth Township in 1817; he was married in 1824 to Miss Lucy CONKLING, of Plymouth Township; in 1837 hey moved to their present farm. There were thirteen children in their family.

WEBER --- Solomon WEBER
was born in Cumberland Co., Penn., September, 1820; when he was about 2 years of age his parents died. He then went to live with his aunt, Mrs. WEBER, with whom he stayed about five years and then went to his brother's, who was a wagon-maker and with whom Solomon learned his trade; when he left Pennsylvania he came to Jefferson Co., Ohio and in 1840, he came to Richland Co. He was married to Miss Sarah MILLER, Feb. 27, 1844; they had four sons. Mrs. WEBER, was born in Lebanon Co., Penn., in 1792, and came to Ohio about 1815. He married Catherine BRICKER.

WEBSTER --- O. W. WEBSTER
...., boots and shoes, established in 1870 by Mr. WEBSTER. He carries a stock of about $15,000. Mr. WEBSTER. was born in Richland County, Ohio, in 1846. He enlisted in 1864 in the Sixty-fourth Regiment Ohio Volunteers, Company D. Re-enlisted in 1865 in the One hundred and Ninety-seventh Regiment Ohio Volunteers. Returned home at the close of the war, and in 1865 moved to Wisconsin and from there to Iowa. Was engaged in teaching school in both States. In 1869 he settled in Lincoln, Neb. He was married in Mansfield, Ohio, October 24, 1876, to Miss Annie DULL, of Mansfield. They have one child, Joseph. Mr. WEBSTER is a member of the "Sans Souci" Club.

WENTZ --- Henry WENTZ, JR
fourth son of Henry WENTZ, SR., who moved from Perry Co., Penn., in April, 1834, and settled in Cass Township, was born Dec. 9, 1839; lived with and aided his father on his farm until the age of 18 years; when attaining his freedom he went to Fort Wayne, Ind., and remained until the breaking-out of the late war, when he, on July 11, 1861, enlisted as a private in Co. E, 11th Ind. V.I. After the war, Mr. WENTZ returned home; married Miss Sarah A. BUSHEY June 8, 1865; the fruits of this union were two sons and one daughter.

WESTFALL --- Haney WESTFALL
....was born in Beverly, W. Va. May 27, 1796; in his early youth, he came West to Lancaster, Ohio, to live with his uncle, David PUGH. Upon the breaking-out of the war of 1812, he enlisted in Capt. HOUSKER'S company, Ohio militia; after the close of the war, he came to Mansfield, and afterward removed to Plymouth, then known as Paris. He was married there to Hannah CONCKLIN; he died Aug. 1869 on his farm. He left one son, and four daughters all of whom are married.

WHEELER --- Isaac S. WHEELER
was born in Plymouth Township, Feb. 11, 1822; his father, Oliver WHEELER; immigrated from Connecticut to Ohio at an early day, and settled two miles northwest of Shelby. His father served in the war of 1812; his mother, whose maiden name was Rebecca HOLSTON, was born in Pennsylvania. Mr. WHEELER was married in 1851, to Mrs. Martha MOORE, whose maiden name was RAMBO; they are the parents of six children.

....he was born in Columbia Co., Penn., Feb. 15, 1833, and is a son of John and Elizabeth WHITE, who came to this county in the spring of 1838 and settled in what is now Cass Township, where they lived until 1867, when they moved to Butler Township. The subject of this sketch is the fourth of a family of ten children; he remained at home until he was married, in 1857, to Mary A. MILLER, daughter of Samuel and Catharine MILLER, who came from Cumberland Co., Penn., in 1839, and settled in Blooming Grove Township; after Mr. WHITE'S marriage, he settled in Cass Township, where he lived about seven years, and hen he moved, with his family, to Michigan,and, in 1866, moedback to Richland Co. He was married to Miss Susan SNYDER Feb. 23, 1860; she was born Oct. 3, 1840; they are blessed with five children. Mrs. WHITE'S mother, Mrs. Mary E. SNYDER, whose maiden names was MAGNER, was born in Greene Co., in 1818; her parents Samuel and Catharine MAGNER, immigrated to Columbiana Co., Ohio where they lived for some years, and then came to Richland Co. in April, 1829. Mary E. MAGNER was married to John SNYDER in 1837; they had four children.

WITT --- Horatio WITT
....born in Somerset Co., Penn., on the 16th of March, 1815; he resided there until 20 years of age, when he removed to Wayne Co. and stayed about eighteen months, when he returned to his native State; he remained there six months, and from there went to Fort Cumberland, Md., where he remained about two years; from there he removed back to Somerset Co,, stayed about six months and removed back to this State and located in Knox Co., where he lived about two and one half years, when he came to this county, where he has resided since, although he has taken two trips West to Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa. He was a member of Co. E, 3d O.VC.. In the year 1840, on the 12th of February, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth (DEVORE) BAKER; they had two children.

WOLFE --- C. C. WOLFE
...., County Superintendent of Public Schools. He came to [Barton] county in February, 1878, and engaged in agricultural pursuits, which he has since continued. Elected to the above office in the fall of 1882. There are eighty-seven organized schools in Barton County, of which he has charge. He was born in Richland County, Ohio, August 26, 1847. Was raised in his native county; partly educated at Denison University, at Granville, Ohio, and completed his education at Amherst College, Mass., of which institution he graduated in the class of 1875. He then followed teaching until he came to Kansas.

WOLFE --- Wesley J. WOLFE
...formerly manager of branch office Singer Manufacturing Co., is a native of Ohio, and was born in Richland, now Ashland, County, July 28, 1838. At an early age he removed with parents to Olney, Richland County, Ill., where his father, John was prominently identified for over a quarter of a century. He was County Surveyor and the first Assessor of Richland County, was Circuit Clerk for a number of years, and associated with the county's interest generally..... [he came to Atchison, Kansas, in 1882]... He has been twice married, first in 1858 to Miss Sarah A. BOWER; her death occurred in September, 1868. By this union had three children, one of whom is living - Edward C.; lost two - Emanuel and Mary Margaret. In 1869 Miss Elizabeth ALLEN, of Olney, became his wife. They have had one daughter, Hattie, deceased.

WOOD --- Mrs. Maria WOOD
....wife of the late John WOOD; she was born in Richland Co. Oct. 2, 1818, and is a sister of Jacob CLAYBERG, of Butler Township. John WOOD was among the first settlers in this township; he came with his parents, in 1817, from Beaver Co., Penn. A short time after John WOOD and Maria CLAYBERG were married, they settled in Ashland Co., where they lived about two years, and then bought and moved to the present farm, about two miles north of Adario. Mrs. WOOD has raised seven children.

WOOD --- Naman WOOD
....he was born in Ashland Co. June 26, 1844, and is a son of the late John and Maria WOOD, of Butler Township; he remained at home until June, 1862, when he enlisted in Co. H, 84th O.V.I., where he served about three months, when he came home, and in April, 1864, he re-enlisted in Co. A, McLAUGHLIN'S squadron, and returned home in November, 1865. He remained in the county until 1873, when he married Elmira VAN HORN, of Rome, Blooming Grove Township; after his marriage, he settled on the present farm, about one and a half miles north of Adario.

WOODRUFF --- S. N. WOODRUFF
...., farmer, southeast quarter Section 18, P. O. Oswego, was born near Mansfield, Richland Co., Ohio, in 1822. After completing his education at the common schools he worked on the farm until 1848, when he removed to Noble County, Ind., near Albion, where he resided until October, 1881, when he emigrated to Kansas, settling in Labbette County.... Mr. WOODRUFF. was married in 1848 to Ellen DOUGLAS [sic], of Richland County, Ohio.... Mrs. WOODRUFF died in 1852. Mr. W. married Sarah M. DOUGLASS [sic] May 2, 1856, a sister of the former....

WOODS --- [Dr.] James A. WOODS
.... located in Schuyler, October 31, 1872, and immediately began the practice of his profession. He was born in Crawford Co., Pa, November 20, 1844, but was raised in Ohio. He entered the Cleveland Medical College of Ohio in October, 1868, and graduated from that celebrated medical school in February, 1870. He began the practice of his chosen profession at Arlington, Hancock Co., Ohio, with success two years, then went to Milton Centre, Wood Co., Ohio, and practiced two years with like success, after which he moved to Schuyler, Neb. He enlisted in February, 1864, in Company L, Second Ohio Heavy Artillery, as a private. His battery was on garrison duty, and participated in several skirmishes. He was mustered out August 29, 1865, at Camp Chase, Ohio. He was married in Williamstown, Hancock Co., Ohio, November 24, 1870, to Miss Sophronia CLINE, a native of Richland County, Ohio. They have three children, Carrie A., Kate L., and Dale J. The Doctor is a member of the K. of H., Enterprise Lodge, No. 954.

WOOLLEY --- George W. WOOLLEY
....born on the line of Athens Co. Jan. 19, 1829; lived there till the age of 10 years, when he went to Muskingum Co.; he stayed there four years, then lived several years in different parts of this State and Indiana, finally settling in Franklin Co., where he remained twenty-seven years, when he came to this county, and has since resided here. He was married to his first wife in Franklin Co. in 1851; the fruits of this marriage were ten children. He was married to his second wife , Mrs. Susan LATTIMORE, May 3, 1877, who was born Jan. 27, 1835; she is the second child of Simeon and Rebecca RODGERS; her mother still living came to this township April 11, 1823. Mrs. WOOLEY'S first husband's name was William LATTIMORE, he died in 1870; she had four children.
