The Summit County Genealogy section of ACORN (Akron
Community Online Resource Network) is maintained by the
Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.
Since you are reading our section on ACORN we would like
to take this opportunity to tell you something about our
Chapter and to encourage you to join our membership.

The Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical
Society was chartered 17 April 1971. Our purpose is: To
create and build an interest in preserving and collecting
historical and genealogical records in, and for, Summit
County and the State of Ohio. To advance the study of
genealogy; and to attempt to help and educate the
individual in his own research.

CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS:

1. Our monthly newsletter, The Highpoint, issued 10
times per year is full of genealogical material.
2. Our 10 monthly meetings, offering informative programs
and workshops, are a good place to exchange ideas and
information.
3. Free Queries published in The Highpoint.
4. Having your Queries/Surnames placed on ACORN.
5. The Chapter maintains:
Five Generation Charts.
Surname Index for Charts.
Ancestor Card file - kept at the Akron Library.

10 MONTHLY MEETINGS:

The chapter meets at in the Carriage House of the Summit County Historical Society’s Perkins Mansion,

550 Copley Road.
at Portage Path. Akron.
The parking lot faces Portage Path.
Meetings begin at 1 p.m.

November - Annual Banquet, to be announced
