The Trumbull County, OHGenWeb Site is a part of The OHGenWeb and The USGenWeb Projects.
Trumbull County is located in the northeast portion of the state of Ohio on the Pennsylvania border. Interstate Highway 80, US Route 422, and State Routes 82, 87, 88, and 305 cross the county east and west, and State Routes 5, 7, 11, 45, 46, 193, and 534 run north and south. The Grand and Mahoning Rivers flow through Trumbull County. In 1800, Trumbull County was designated capital of the Western Reserve with Warren as its county seat. The county was named for Jonathan Trumbull, Jr. (1740-1809), Governor of Connecticut. The Connecticut Western Reserve Lands (Western Reserve, the Reserve, New Connecticut) are found in 14 northeastern Ohio counties. The Western Reserve started at the Pennsylvania-Ohio line and extended 120 miles westward to the present Seneca and Sandusky County lines. It is bordered on the north by Lake Erie, and on the south by the parallel of the 41st degree North Latitude.
