Jerome Township

Curry Cemetery
This cemetery once held the remains of Colonel W.
L. Curry. His remains were removed to Oakdale Cemetery after its
opening. This cemetery is noted in Curry's 1915 History of Jerome Township as
containing the remains of one additional veteran, James Buck.

Beard Cemetery
It is believed that this was a pioneer cemetery located in present day
Plain City a little north of State Route 161 and a little west of US
42. This location is noted on the current (2006) Union County map
published by the Union County Engineer's office.

Hensel Cemetery
This cemetery was located where the park is
currently located in Jerome. It is believed to have been
destroyed when the old Ryan Memorial school was demolished in the
1980s. This cemetery is mentioned in Curry's 1915 History of Jerome Township as
containing the remains of veterans, namely Captain Henry Hensel.
This cemetery also purportedly contained the remains of several members
of the Beach Family.

Cemetery
The Jerome Cemetery is located just north
of the village of Jerome on the east side of Jerome Road. This
cemetery
was previously known as the I.O.O.F. Cemetery and belongs to Jerome
Township. This is still an active cemetery today. It is
often referred to as the New Jerome Cemetery.
Lower
Liberty Cemetery
The Lower Liberty
Cemetery
is located on the west edge of Plain city near the south bank of the
Big
Darby Creek. This cemetery is also referred to as the Ewing
Cemetery. It is fenced in but on private property and all the
stones
are down or broken. It dates to the early 1800s. Curry's
1915 History of Jerome Township
lists this cemetery as containing the remains of veterans.
New
California Cemetery

The New California Cemetery is located near
the interesection of US 42 and Industrial Parkway (old State Route 33)
just
west of the church of the New California Presbyterian Church.
This is still an active cemetery. Burials in this cemetery date
to the mid 1800s.
Old
Jerome Cemetery

The Old Jerome Cemetery is located on the
north side of Brock Rd near the intersection of Jerome Road. The
oldest
stone dates back to 1835. It is sometimes referred to as the
Herriott Cemetery. This cemetery is no longer active. In
the fall of 2006, it can be noted that the cemetery sign on the
premises lists this cemetery as the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Previously the sign had listed the cemetery as the Herriott Cemetery.
Rickert Farm Cemetery
This cemetery is believed to have been located near
present-day State Route 736 and US 42. The location of this
cemetery is noted on the current
(2006) Union County map published by the Union County Engineer's office.
