Brannon Cemetery

    Brannon Cemetery is located about ½ mile east of Pharisburg on State Route 347 where Whitestone Road ends.  Across the road towards Bokes Creek along the high ground and back to the creek you will find in the trees this little cemetery.  The first cemetery in the Leesburg Township area, it was also once the only burying ground in this township.  Brannon Cemetery is on land that was once owned by Joseph Brannon.  This cemetery is sometimes referred to as the Bokes Creek Cemetery.  There are only a few stones left standing with several broken pieces present.  This cemetery was read on November 19, 1985.   This cemetery has also been referred to as the Bannon Cemetery.

Blues Creek Cemetery

      

    Blues Creek Cemetery (or Scott's Graveyard - not to be confused with Scott's Cemetery) is located off US 33 approximately 3 and 1/2 miles north on  State Route 4.  If coming from Marysville it is on the right side of the road in a clump of trees.  This was orignially known as Scott's Graveyard because it is on land once owned by William Scott.  This cemetery was read on October 22, 1985.

Fish Farm Cemetery

    This cemetery is near the Smith Cemetery on Pine Lane.  The location of this inactive cemetery is noted on the current (2006) Union County map published by the Union County Engineer.


Hildreth Cemetery

    Hildreth Cemetery is located on State Route 347 between Whitestone and Jackson Roads on the north side of the road and the south side of Bokes Creek.  It is a small family plot.  Very few intact stones remain and several broken ones were present when this cemetery was read in October 1985.  This cemetery is sometimes referred to as the Eddy Farm Cemetery.

 

Hopewell Cemetery

             

    This cemetery is located north of Pharisburg on Hopewell Road east about ½ mile.  The Hopewell Methodist Episcopal Church was organized about 1830 but is no longer in existence.  The cemetery is still in use and is cared for by the township trustees.  The cemetery was read on November 19, 1985.

Maple Dell Cemetery

             

    Maple Dell Cemetery is located east of Pharisburg on State Route 37 on the north side of the Maple Dell Road intersection.  This cemetery was once associated with the Union Chapel Church and it dates to approximately 1850.  The Maple Dell Cemetery has also been known as the McAllister Cemetery, and it is referred to as such in the Beers' History of Union County.  It is still an active cemetery today.  This cemetery was read on September 24, 1985.

Scott Cemetery

      

    Scott Cemetery is located on State Route 4 north of Pharisburg on the west side of the road near Kinney Road.  When read on October 26, 1985 there were only 2 tombstones standing.  The rest were propped against a tree.  In the fall of 2006 this cemetery was visited, and was found to be well mowed and stones had been repaired.

Smith Cemetery

                    

    Smith Cemetery is located a short distance from the intersection of Paris and Dover Townships at the Leesburg Township line.  Take Hillview Road east off of State Route 4 until you come to Pine Lane, turn left and follow this until you come to it.  This cemetery has not been in use for many years and has been neglected.  Very few stones were standing and there were a lot of broken stones when this cemetery was read on October 18, 1984.  In the fall of 2006, this cemetery was visited and was found in decent condition.  Some mowing has been done in the past year.
