
This is the index page for military units in the
Civil War in which men from Van Wert County, Ohio served. It
also has an index of the casualties. These pages are for
information only, and do not represent official data for the various
units. The webmaster has not researched the data, but used
information in the source cited at the bottom of this page.
Company E, 56th Regiment, was raised 17 April 1861, and
incorporated into the 15th Regiment on May 17, 1861 at Camp
Jackson,
Columbus, Ohio.
Companies E and H, 15th Regiment, were enlisted April 17,
1861 at Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Companies A, E and K, 46th Regiment, largely made up in Van
Wert and Mercer counties were
formed at Camp Worthington, near Columbus,
Ohio.
52nd Regiment was formed in August 1862.
Company A, 56th Regiment, was organized in August
1862.
The 64th Regiment was organized at Camp
Buckington, near Mansfield, Ohio, in 1861.
Companies A, B, and K, 88th Regiment, were
stationed
in Columbus, Ohio, to guard prisoners.
Companies A, E and F, 99th Regiment, were mustered in at
Camp
Lima on August 26, 1862. One company was raised in Van Wert.
