DEATH BY VIOLENCE. Car inspector. Who Once Lived
Here, the Victim of Appall-
ing Accident.
B. G. Potts, of Spencerville, for many years a resident of North Washington street, was killed last Tuesday, at that town, while serving as a car inspector of the C. H. & D. railroad. No particulars were received by, the local relatives but as he was engaged in the railroad work it is naturally taken that he was killed by a locomotive. His son and daughter, Millard Potts and Mrs. 0. M. Kear, accompanied by their families have gone to Spencerville to attend the funeral. Mr. Potts was long a car inspector at the Cincinnati Northern shops, and had many Van Wert friends who will regret to learn of his death. Mr. Potts was killed while assisting a freight crew in its work at the depot. He coupled two cars together and as the train moved away by a misstep fell across the rail. His body was crowded into such a position that the wheels severed it in twain, lengthwise.
The body of B. G. Potts, of Spencerville, whose sudden death occurred Tuesday, was brought here Wednesday noon, and taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. C. Schultz, 616 Center street. The funeral service were held from the Second M. E. Church, Thursday afternoon, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. A. Lilly. The I. 0. R. M. attended in a body and took part in the, services. Interment will occur near Haviland.
Millard Potts, 0. M. Kear and Clyde Schultz were in Celina, this afternoon, relative to the death of the former's father, B. G. Potts.

Leo J. Hall, son of the late Geo. A. Hall of North Washington Street died this morning at the home of his half-brother, Charles Hall, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Mr. Hall had been in ill health for several years, but his final sickness was of short duration. He was born in Van Wert 43 years ago and lived here until 20 years of age, when the family removed to Paulding, where they conducted a dry goods store for a number of years. Later, Mr. Hall resided in Mansfield and for some time past was the manager of the ready-to-wear department of a dry goods store in Hutchinson. Mr. Hall spent six weeks in this town last winter, visiting his step-mother, Mrs. Hall of East Main Street, and old friends.
