Just two weeks have slowly past
Since our dear baby breathed his
last last, (sic)
The hand of death that touched his brow
We know he is in heaven now.
His little place is empty
And vacant is his bed,
His playthings are all laid aside
For, Oh, sweet Karl is dead.
All is dark within our home,
Lonely are our hearts today,
For the one we loved so dearly
Has forever passed away.

In his late illness he gave utterance to clear views of religious convictions and a firm hope of everlasting life. "There is a land of pure delight where saints immortal reign; eternal day dispels the night and pleasures banish pain." Brother Kear was wondrously patient during his last illness and had the manner and air of one who understands that life's scenes in this world are closed. He who knows more of the eternal than any of the human family, has given us the promise "Lo I am with you even unto the end of the world." He also said "Not a sparrow falleth from the housetop without the Father's will. Ye are more value than many sparrows." The funeral was conducted by Rev. Sinclair and Rev. Gamble in the Second M. E. Church. Burial in Woodland Cemetery.
Dearest father thou has left us,
And our loss we deeply feel.
But 'tis God that has bereft us
He can all sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life, is fled
When in heaven in joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tear is shed.
