CHARLES H. SHERWOOD, farmer; P.O. Harveysburg; born in Warren County, March 16, 1864; is a son of Jonathan and Margaret Sherwood, whose history is given in sketch of Jonathan Sherwood. The subject of this sketch was raised to farm labor and remained with his father till his majority, thence he bought his father’s interest in a store in Freeport, but continued there only about eight months, and sold out to his brother; thence he purchased the Amos King farm, but soon after entered upon the mercantile business at Fort Ancient, where he carried on business two years, when from failing health he sold out, and again entered upon farming, by purchasing the farm where he now lives and has since resided. Mr. Sherwood was united in marriage Aug. 6, 1874, with Clara E., daughter of Calvin L. and Maria T. Dakin, he a native of this county, and she of Butler County; they were parents of four children – Laura, Clara E., Volney and Warren. Mr. Sherwood and wife have had five children – Horace, born May 7, 1876 (deceased); Edwin, born Aug. 28, 1877; Claude, born Nov. 10, 1878 (deceased); Irene, born Jan 15, 1880, and Clarence, born Jan. 19, 1881.
