Comments:
  • Robert Hill, Samuel A. Hill, Mary Ann E. (Hill) Cornelius and Susannah M. (Hill) Morgan were the children of Benjamin Hill (deceased) and his widow, Isabella Hill.
    • In the 1st deed, the sons, Robert and Samuel A. Hill are selling their rights to one parcel of land to their sisters for $2500.
    • In the 2nd deed, the daughters, Mary Ann E. Cornelius & Susannah M.Morgan are selling their rights to a second parcel of land to their brothers for $2500.

SUMMARY

The first deed, dated 12 May 1838 witnessed by Simon Gillespie and James Hill on pages 740 & 741 is
from
Robert Hill
and his wife Letticia Hill and from Samuel A. Hill and his wife Thirza P. Hill of Warren County and State of Ohio;
to
John G. Cornelius
and Benjamin Morgan of Dearborn County & State of Indiana
For $2500, the brothers Robert and Samuel A. Hill, transferred
"all their interest in the Estate of Benjamin Hill deceased, of undivided land being one half of said Estate Situate in Warren County and State of Ohio (deeded by Thomas Paxton to John Hill deceased; and devised by said John Hill to said Benjamin Hill deceased) subject to the widows right of dower"
The deed does not state military survey number that the property is located in nor the total acreage involved but thought to be the 130 acres located in military survey #2192 which was the subject of the 1850 partition suit filed in the Warren County Chancery Court.

The second deed dated 11 May 1838 and witnessed by James Hill and Simon Gillespie on pages 741 to 743 is
from
John G. Cornelius and Mary Ann E. Cornelius his wife and from Benjamin Morgan and Susannah M. Morgan his wife of the County of Dearborn and State of Indiana
to
Robert Hill and Samuel Hill of Warren County State of Ohio legatees of Benjamin Hill deceased.
For $2500, the sisters and their husbands transferred
"all our right title and interest in the Estate of Benjamin Hill deceased in the following described lot or parcel of undivided land being one half of said Estate situate in Warren County & State of Ohio" --------"Except the widow (Isabella Hills) right of dower is hereby acknowledged by both parties but no descent claims by the first part."
This deed also omits the size of the parcel and the military survey in which it is located.
