NEW MANAGER FOR THE NORMAL

And His Name is Stilwell.

Mr. C. K. Hamilton has resigned as general manager of the Normal and is succeeded by Prof. S. A. Stilwell. This gentleman takes charge at once and as he will not enter the Auditor's office until some time next summer, he will devote all his time and energy until then to the good of the school, and expects to still give the school his supervision, if time will permit, after he becomes auditor. The statement of the circumstances connected with the change of managers is so well told in Mr. Hamilton's article in The Normalite, that we reprint as much of it as space will permit in order that our local readers may fully understand the situation.

It is with a high degree of satisfaction and relief, not however unmingled with regret, that I am permitted to resign the active business management of the National Normal University, and to pass the work into the hands of another who I believe is eminently qualified to successfully continue and advance the business interests of the institution.

The office of business manager was reluctantly accepted by me more than five years ago, with the distinct understanding however that it was to be only a temporary care. It has required much time and thought, and while in justice to my private business affairs I have all along desired to be relieved of its responsibilities, yet because of my love for the good old N. N. U., and because of the great advantage it has been to Lebanon, and on account of the urgent requests of the directors and financial supporters of the institution, I have until the present opportunity put aside my own desires in the matter and pursued the work to the best of my ability under the conditions existing from time to time.

In stepping from the active management a this time I am happy to know that the conditions surrounding the University are most favorable. The faculty in charge is a very able and popular one. The students in attendance are all well pleased with the work being done. Entire harmony prevails. The outlook is favorable for a large increase in attendance during the coming sessions. In my opinion there never was a period when a student could do better work or accomplish more that at the present.

Prof. S. A. Stilwell, who now becomes General Manager of the National Normal University, is a man who is well known in the educational world. He has been a superintendent of schools in Warren County for many years. He has served as County Teachers Examiner for more than a decade; he has been honored with the office of President of the State Association of School Examiners; he has the confidence of the people of his county and has recently been elected Auditor by the largest majority known in many years.

Prof. Stilwell is a graduate of the National Normal University and is a thorough and enthusiastic Normalite. He has constantly kept in close touch with the institution, and acquires his interest only after becoming thoroughly acquainted with its condition and the work being done.

I bespeak for Prof. Stilwell great success in his new undertaking, and for the University a rapid and substantial growth. I trust and believe that Normalites in all parts of the land will rally once more to the support of their Alma Mater.

May the old institution stand for years hence, a pride to all the students, a credit to all the able men and women who at present and in the past have watched over its destinies, and a lasting memorial to the genius of its great and eminent founder, Alfred Holbrook.

C. K. Hamilton
