Thomas A. Jeffries was
born at Rushville, Indiana, March 1st., 1840 and departed this life September
6th. 1920, aged 80 years, 6 months and 5 days.
He was a Civil War veteran, having enlisted August 15th. 1861 and mustered
into U. S. service August 20th. 1861, at Camp Hamilton, in Captain
J. L. Budd's company, A. 35 O. V.
I. He received his honorable discharge August 28th 1864. He was a
member of the Granville Thurston Post, No. 213, G. A. R., at Lebanon,
In 1865, he was untied [sic] in marriage to Margaret Osborn and to this
union was born seven children, six of whom survive, William, Milton, John,
Mrs. Elizabeth Shankel, Mrs. Mary Toms, and Mrs. Flora Burnette. The wife
and one child preceded him to the Great Beyond some few years ago.
Another one of the gallant boys of '61 has been mustered into Eternity.
