Blanch Warwick-Knight

Died, Blanch Warwick Knight, 72, of 127 W. Second St., widow of Robert L. Knight, died Friday at 10 p.m. in Green Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She became ill Friday morning and entered the hospital at noon.

Mrs. Knight, who had made her home with her brother, J. W. Warwick, at the W. Second St. address the last six months, was born in Warren County, July 22, 1881. She was the daughter of Horace and Mary E. Wood Warwick. Mrs. Knight had passed the greater part of her life in Warren County and formerly was employed as a clerk in a number of groceries in Lebanon. She was a member of Mt. Holly Methodist Church.

Besides her brother, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Gribble and Mrs. Jane Gridley of California; four step-children, Mrs. Ruth James and Mrs. Rhea Beltz of Lebanon; Mrs. Ruby Shroyer, Dayton, and Ray Knight of Xenia; a number of nieces and nephews.

The body is at Neeld Funeral Home. Services are pending the arrival of her brother, J. W. Warwick, who is enroute home from a trip to Florida.

Mary Virginia Knight
1914 - 2001

Mary Virginia Knight, 86, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2001 at Greene Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1914 in Lebanon, the daughter of J. W. and Esther (Lowry) Warwick.

She retired from Singers Sewing; had been a seamstress and a teacher in sewing; did alterations at McDorman’s Men’s Store, was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church and the VFW auxiliary. She also volunteered for Meals On Wheels and at the Hospitality Homes.

She was married to Ray E. Knight on Aug. 6, 1933 in Newport, Ky., and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1983. Also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ricky Neil Knight and Rudy E. Knight and two infant sisters. Survivors include her children, Robert L. (June) Knight of Jamestown, Roberta Thornton of Waynesville, Ray W. (Paula) Knight of Sidney, Roger L. (Sherry) Knight of Springfield, Rhonda (Hub) Mahaffey, Ft. Orange, Fla, Ruby (Ronnie) Leisure, Xenia; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Acton, Gene Darner, both of Yellow Springs and Alice Warwick, of Florida; several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 195 W. Third Street, Xenia with Rev. Don Payne officiating. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. If desired, contributions may be made to the Evangelical United Methodist Building Fund, 195 W. Third Street, Xenia. The family is being served by the McColough Funearl Home, 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia.

Ray E. Knight

Ray E. Knight, 73, of 765 Lynn St., died at Greene Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon a week after his admission.

He was born in Montgomery County Jan. 28, 1910, the son of Robert L. and Annie James Knight.

His widow, the former Mary Warwick, whom he married in Newport, Ky., Aug. 6, 1933, survives.

He was a retired employee of Brown & Brockmeyer Co. where -------------------

--------------Hubert (Rhonda) Mahaffey of Franklin and Mrs. Ronnie (Ruby) Leisure of Xenia; four sons, Robert L. of Jamestown, Ray W. of Sidney, Roger L. of Xenia and Rudy E. of Spring Valley; 16 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth James and Mrs. Rhea Beltz, both of Lebanon and Mrs. Ruby Shroyer of Dayton.

A son, Ricky Neil Knight, and two brothers, Wilford and Ralph, preceded him in death.

Ricky Knight

Baby Is First Polio Fatality
Greene County’s first polio death of the year was reported Monday morning when Ricky Knight, 4-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Knight, Spring Valley, died at 8:20 a.m. in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, where he had been a patient since Tuesday.

The victim, this county’s second 1950 polio case, was born in Dayton on May 3, 1950. His mother is the former Miss Mary Warwick.

Surviving besides the child’s parents are four brothers, Robert, Ray, Roger, and Rudy, three sisters, Roberta, Rhonda and Ruby; the paternal grandfather, Robert L. Knight, near Lebanon, and the maternal grandfather, J. W. Warwick of Hillsboro.

Private services were conducted at the Neeld Funeral Home, Wednesday at 10 a. m. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, this city.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Oswald Funeral Home, Lebanon, for Robert Knight, 80, Mt. Holly, who died Friday morning at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime.Surviving are his widow, Blanche; three daughters, a son and several grandchildren.
Blanch (Warwick-Knight) was a step-mother to Ruth, Ruby, Rhea, & Ray E. He and Blanch had no children. Robert’s first wife and mother to the children was

Obituaries
Rudy Knight

Rudy E. Knight, 48, Waynesville, passed away Monday morning at his residence. He was born Aug. 27, 1948 in Dayton, the son of Ray and Mary Warwick Knight. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Shari (McCoy) Knight, Waynesville; two daughters, Kellee McCoy and Caitlin Knight, both at home; his mother, Mary Knight, Xenia; three brothers, Ray Knight, Sidney, Robert Knight, Bowersville, and Roger Knight of Xenia; three sisters, Roberta Thornton, Waynesville, Rhonda Mahaffey, Port Orange, Fla, and Ruby Leisure, Xenia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Ricky Knight.

Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 195 W. Third St., Xenia, with Rev. Donald R. Payne officiating. There will be no visitation.

Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., is in charge of arrangements.
