Gladys E. (Hillock) Long

Gladys E. Long, 85, Hibbing, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 1995, in a local nursing home. She was born to Robert and Mary Hillock in Iowa. She was the postmaster in Red Ore until her retirement. She is survived by a son, Alan of Britt; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.

Gordon R. Long

Gordon R. Long, 69, Oklawaha, Fla., formerly of Duluth, died Aug. 26 in Waterman Medical Center in Eustis, Fla. He was born in Proctor and lived in Duluth before moving to Florida in 1954. He lived in Fort Lauderdale and Rockledge, Fla., before moving to the Ocala area 12 years ago. He was a retired mail carrier and accountant. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Air National Guard veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by two daughters, Claudia Brenton of Fort Lauderdale and Marcia Bowers of Bryson City, N.C.; a sister Lois Reed of Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a great grandson. Arrangements were by the Belleview Funeral Home in Belleview, Fla.

Lois E. Long

Lois E. (Gordon) Long, 66, Oklawaha, Fla., formerly of Duluth, died Thursday in an Ocala, Fla., hospital. She was born in Bristol, Tenn., and moved to Duluth more than 50 years ago. She was a graduate of Denfeld High School. She was a member of the Oklawaha United Methodist Church. Surviving, besides her husband, are two daughters, Claudia (Edward) Brenton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Marcia (Avery) Bowers of Bryson City, N.C.; five brothers, Donald and Ted Plant, both of Duluth, George and Edward Jr. of Bryson City and Robert Plant of Deeerfield Beach, Fla., and four grandchildren.

Marshall F. Long

Marshall F. Long, 77, of 8 First Street,Proctor,died yesterday in Brookston Rest home. Born in Niles,Mich., he was a locomotive engineer on the Duluth,Missabe & Iron Range railway for 36 years. He was a Proctor resident for 45 years and was a member of Forbes Memorial Methodist church, the Brotherhood of locomotive engineers, Euclid lodge No.198, AF&AM, and the Valley of Duluth, Scottish Rite. Surviving are two sons, Walter F.,Hibbing,and Gordon R., Fort Lauderdale,Fla.:two daughters, Edna K.,Detroit, and Mrs.Lois Ramlow, Whittier, Calif., four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Nancy (Snuff) Long

Mrs. Nancy Jane Long, 93, former Grand Rapids, Mich., resident, who made her home during the last nine years at the Lakeshore Lutheran home in Duluth, died yesterday after a lingering illness. She was born in Ohio. Surviving is a son, M. F. Long, Proctor; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The body will be removed today to Grand Rapids for funeral services and burial.

Nancy (Snuff) Long

LONG - Mrs. Nancy J. Long, widow of Wilbur F. Long, formerly of this city, passed away Friday at the home of her son, M. F. Long in Proctor, Minn. The body will arrive in Grand Rapids Sunday night and be taken to the Kilstrom funeral home. Funeral Announcement later.

"Daughter of George and Catharine Cook Snuff, born Dec.7,1849 in Franklin,Warren Co.,Ohio, married Wilber F. Long July 1,1869 in Niles, Berrien Co.,MI, lived in Grand Rapids, MI and died in Proctor, MN April 25, 1943, buried at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Grand Rapids next to Wilber.
Children: Clinton A. (1870) died as infant, and Marshal Long (1875)"

Walter F. Long

Walter F. (Gladys) Long, 82, of Hibbing, died Saturday at Central Mesabi Medical Center. He was a retired general yardmaster of the DM & IR Railroad and a World War I veteran. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Alan, Britt; a brother, Gordon, Oklayaha, Fla.; a sister, Lois (Kenneth) Reed, Vista, Calif; and four grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Daniels Funeral Home, Hibbing. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
