- Columbus Lucien Jackson (1849-1886)
- from obituary in the 18 Nov 1886 Lebanon Gazette,
"Columbus Lucien Jackson, son of Jacob and Phoebe Jackson,
was born at Socialville, Warren County, O., December 13, 1849. At
the age of seventeen he was, under the ministry of Father Stokes,
converted to Christ. From thence he was actively engaged in Christian
work, class leader and Sunday-school superintendent. During this
period he was securing an education, teaching as occasion offered,
and studying in the meantime, finally graduating from the scientific
class of the National Normal University, at Lebanon, O., August
14, 1873."

"I am the great granddaughter of an alum of the National
School. Elias Finley Johnson graduated with a BS
and CE (don't know what a "CE" is) in 1882. He went on
to have an illustrious career in the law. He was a member of the
Ohio Legislature the year after he graduated. He went on to get
a LLB and LLM from the University of Michigan before he taught there
and then went on to become a Justice of the Supreme Court in Manilla,
Phillipines. I've just learned of his attendance at Lebanon. I had
thought all his college was at U of Mich."
