STUDENTS & FACULTY

The school had about 80,000 graduates. The names of a small handful of them (as submitted by researchers or as posted elsewhere on the internet) are listed below. The list is slowly growing. If you would like to add your ancestor to this list, send an email to Arne H Trelvik with whatever information you might have about their attendance at the school. I'd be happy to include a photo and short bio if you have them.

Reynolds, was one of the early superintendents of the school district. He earned his B.S. at Lebanon University, probably between 1890 and 1910. I would be very interested in learning of any information your archives may have on Mr. Reynolds."

  • Harry Spillman Riggs (1868-1910)
    • 24 Jan 2009 email from Frank Gruber of Cincinnati, Ohio
Apparently my ancestor, Spillman Riggs, attended the National Normal University located in Lebanon, Ohio sometime in the early 1880's according to Who's who in the Lyceum, By Alfred Augustus Wright, Page: 153.
"RIGGS, Spillman, Lecturer; b. Kenton Co., Ky., Nov. 29, 1863; ed. publ sch. and Nat. Normal Univ., Lebanon, O.; m. Minnetta Henneberger, Akron, O., Nov. 5, 1902....".
29 Jan 2009 email from Frank Gruber of Cincinnati, Ohio
Please find attached two photographs of Harry Spillman Riggs.  My guess is that the top photo more accurately depicts his age at the time he attended NNU.  The book "Who's who in the Lyceum" incorrectly gives his birth year as 1863. The day and month is correct but he was born in 1868. Harry's first marriage occurred in 1887. I think he probably would have attended NNU circa 1885-1886.
