Richard Henry Stringfellow, born February
1839.
He enlisted on 9/12/1861 at age 23 and on 9/19/1861 he mustered into "I"
Co. OH 31st Infantry as a Private. He was transferred out on 2/15/1864.
On 2/15/1864 he transferred into Veteran Reserve Corps (date and method
of discharge not given). According to his entry in the 1890 Veteran’s

the transfer.
In 1880, Richard was living in Salem Twp along with his wife, Hester,
and their children Thomas and Maggie. By 1900 Richard and his (new?) wife,
Mary J., were living in Morrow where Richard served as Marshall. Richard
applied for a veterans pension as an invalid in 1865. Richard died in
Morrow on July 29, 1912. Following his death his wife, Mary J., applied
for a widow’s pension on August 12, 1918.
