      "Charles Robert Maggard, 28, died July 31 at his residence in a Los Angeles, California suburb.
      Surviving are his wife, Betty; three sons, Mike, Eddie and Rickie; his mother, Mrs. Polly Cobert of Detroit, his father Fred Maggard, his grandmother, Mrs. Molly Revis of South Lebanon; two brothers, Ralph and Bill of California and a sister Ellen Ruth Eneterio of Melvindale, Michigan.
      Funeral services were held Saturday at the South Lebanon Baptist church with the Rev. Elmo Testerman and the Rev. William Oakley of Detroit, officiating. Burial was in South Lebanon Cemetery."

      ". . . In 1943, he enlisted in the naval Air Corps. He was ordered to Active Duty in June 1942, completed flight training in June 1943 and was commissioned an Ensign and designated a Naval Aviator. Les served in three different squadrons and flew in combat missions from aircraft carriers in Torpedo Bombers (TBF) and fighter planes (F6F) in all three theatres of operation. He reenrolled in Otterbein in September of 1946 and was graduated in the Centennial class of 1947 with a BA in Business Administration and began his career in finance and banking with Universal CIT credit Corporation. He was recalled to active duty by the Navy in 1952 and served two years during the Korean Conflict. . . ."
