      "The War Department Tuesday notified Mrs. Elden Terry of Oregonia that her son, Platoon Sgt. Morris Lee Terry, U.S. Marine Corps, was killed in acton on Iwo Jima March 1.  Pltn. Sgt. Terry had been awarded the coveted Silver Star Medal for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action on July 24, 1944" in a South Pacific battle.  He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps shortly after graduating from Lebanon high school where he was  a star athlete. He had been in the South Pacific theater since January 1944.  His brother S/Sgt Elmer Terry is with the armed forces in Germany."
