I would like to add the names, Lewis and Solomon Beach to the list of settlers of Warren County Ohio. They were there in 1820 and later in Turtle creek twp. I have been trying to locate WHERE their farm was -ON WHAT ROAD? The map of 1867 is a Little too late; I am afraid. They would probably be on an 1840 property map. I HAVE found the tombstone picture of Lewis' grave--in the OLD section of the Lebanon cemetery. He died in 1846.
BEACHY
  • Glen A. Beachy Posted 19 March 2005
There is a man by the name of Lincoln Beachy, 1887 to 1915 who was well known as a stunt pilot in the early years of aviation. He died in a plane he built when it crashed into the San Francisco Bay. There is a lot of information about Lincoln's flying stunts, and even a number of pictures of him and the planes he flew. From the information I can find it seems he is from Lebanon, and/or Warren County Ohio. his grandfather's name is Thomas. One article I read said Lincoln had changed his name as he thought Lincoln sounded better for a pilot than his birth name, it never said what his original name was. I have been trying to place Lincoln on the Beachy family tree, so far no luck.

BLAKE
  • Ann Lester Posted 20 Jun 2003
I am searching for information about William Love who gave his consent for the marriage of his daughter, Elizabeth Love, to marry John Blake on 13 Nov 1804. I found that in "Warren County Marriage Consents, Warren County, Ohio 1803-1903" compiled by Ellen Van Houten & Florence Cole. Elizabeth's tombstone in Parke Co., IN says she is the daughter of "W & J Love." That was all the information I had to go on until I found this consent. Now I need to find if he lived in Warren Co. or from where the consent was mailed. Ann Lester, Atlantic Beach, FL

It appears that the 'Bowdre' population center of earlier America was in Georgia, most specifically within the vicinity of Augusta, both in Columbia County immediately to the north, & Richmond County immediately to the south. Born sometime within the latter 1700s or first decade of the 1800s was a man named "Hays Bowdre", who is reported to have had a brother named Thomas Jefferson Bowdre. Hays reportedly died in 1856 at Augusta.
Louisa/Lucy Bowdre was a mulatto woman, born ~1803/4 in GA. Who was her husband remains unrecognized, but rather predictably-spaced sequencing of her six children (3 boys, 3 girls) over a period of ~14 years would seem to indicate that she was probably indeed married. Her firstborn was named George Washington Bowdre, b~1825GA, & her lastborn was David, b~1839GA.
This family apparently departed from GA, sometime within the 1840s, since they were in Warren County, OH, for the 1850 census. They were evidently accompanied by another mulatto woman named Susan Fox, & her two daughters, also from GA. George W. Bowdre during the early 1850s married Ann Fox, & mother Lucy Bowdre about such time apparently subdivided the family assets (Lucy surprisingly had $5000 in real estate in 1850).
Following the referenced marriage event, George, Ann, & mother-in-law Susan left Warren County, & relocated ~230 miles northeast to Ashtabula County, OH. Also making this move was George's younger brother, Robert L. Bowdre.
Presumably still back in Warren County, mother Lucy seems nowhere in evidence past 1860, although she could at such time obviously have been residing with a son or daughter, but she might also have possibly deceased. Son David was in 1870 still in Warren County, & son George & family lived out their own lifetimes (some into the 1960s) in Ashtabula County where they are (all but daughter Catherine) buried there in Oakdale Cemetery. Son Robert was by 1870 in Chattanooga, TN, & later went to Indian Territory where he is evident within the 1890s.

I live in Oregon. Aaron Brandenburg (1761-1865) had a son John Weaver who moved here to the Salem area some time after all his kids were born. He died in Lebanon Oregon and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery there. I think that is a neat fact. There is a difference in stories of the history of this side of my family and whose kids were whose. I am trying to figure it out and find proof of Aaron's kids and his dad's (William Henry).
