FARRIS- Lucy DeYoung posted 3 Jan 2004
"In 1806, David Farris removed from Virginia with a large family, on pack horses, and settled first on the Little East Fork, near the fort in Tribbey's bottom, and, in 1808, purchased 400 acres, mostly in Warren County, and settled on the Bull Skin road. He was a chair-maker and furnished the settlers with chairs, some of which are still in use or kept as relics of early and honest workmanship."

FORDYCE- Gayle O. Kamp (Mr.) Posted 22 Oct 2003
We have been researching the Fordyce family for many years and are stuck with Capt. Wm. B. Fordyce (1785-1860), served in the War of 1812, m. 23 June 1809, Lebanon, OH., Susannah Trimble.
Fordyce had ten or eleven children all born in Warren Co., OH., probably all in Turtle Creek Twp. He and his family were there from 1809-1841, when he moved to Clinton Co., OH. Some of the family children who were married and had families remained in Turtle Creek and Harlan Twp.'s for several years.
Census records, the first one that I could find, he said he was born in NJ., later on his census records said PA., and his children all said he was born in PA in later censuses.
Oh, the other question.....They were buried in Baptist Cem. Vernon Twp., Clinton Co., OH and my thought was that there migt be records of births and baptisms in a church where they lived. Are there Baptist Church records or any other church that indicated where they attended? Some family members later were in the Quaker records. But, I have never seen any Quaker records for Warren Co., OH that included them.
One son, Moses Jackson Fordyce, died young, may be buried in Huffman Baptist Chruch Cem.
Thanks for reading all of this.
We need a breakthrough on his parents!
