WANT GAMES

WAKEMAN, April 24 - [Special] - An independent baseball team will be put in the field this season by the Wakeman baseball club. The team wants to book Sunday games with first class nines in this district. Managers interested are requested to communicate with G.T. Scutt, Wakeman, O.

WAKEMAN ATHLETICS

DOWN JOPPA, 3 TO 2

WAKEMAN, AUG. 22—Special]—The Wakeman Athletics defeated the fast Joppa nine here Sunday, 3 to 2 in a thrilling battle. The game was scoreless until the last half of the sixth when Hyde, Scott and Krueger crossed the plate for Wakeman. Joppa chalked up two runs in the first half of the ninth to save themselves from a shut-out.

Taylor tossed for the locals and allowed seven hits while Wasem, Joppa star, was letting the locals down with six bingles.

CLOVER LEAFS PLAY

AT WAKEMAN SUNDAY

The Clover Leaf Dairys, who lost a well played game to the Soldiers Home Sunday, are booked to play Wakeman next Sunday, Manager Hobart announced Monday.

Wakeman is expecting to provide plenty of opposition for the locals in their appearance there, having nosed out the hard-to-beat Joppa nine last Sunday by a score of 3-2, and word comes from Secretary Todd of the Wakeman aggregation that practices are being held regularly this week in preparation for the game.
