WAKEMAN TO OPEN

HOME BALL SEASON.

WAKEMAN, May 29—[Special]—The Wakeman Independents will play the Knights of St. John team of Elyria here Monday afternoon in two games, the first at 10:30 in the morning, and the second at 2:30 in the afternoon. The contests open the "at home" season of the Wakeman club.

Manger French has announced that the lineup of the local club will probably be as follows: C. Hyde, J. Beam, L. Beam, W. Beam, P. Cooley, R. McLaughlin, E. Perkins, H. Whitney, R. Gerber, G. Scutt, K. Buckley, Taylor, C. Todd, Latteman, C. Martin and Leimbach.

BERLIN HEIGHITS, May 10. - [Special] - The Berlin Heights baseball team inaugurated its season here Sunday afternoon with an 8 to 4 victory over the Wakeman club. Wakeman held a 2 to 1 lead at the close of the sixth, but in the seventh the locals pounded Hide hard and tallied seven runs, a lead which the visitors were unable to overcome.

The local team will play hereafter under the name of the name of the Wayne Stars. They will play the Erie A. C. at Sandusky next Sunday afternoon.

LOSES IN TWO TILTS

WAKEMAN, JUNE 2. - [Special] - The Wakeman baseball club is seeking a game with a strong club for next Sunday afternoon. Communications should be addressed to G. T. Scutt, Wakeman, O.

The Wakeman club played a double header on Memorial Monday with the Knights of St. John team of Elyria. The morning game went 10 innings to an 8-8 tie, while in the afternoon contest Wakeman was winner, 9 to 7. In the morning game L. Beam and Taylor composed the Wakeman battery, while in the afternoon game the battery was Taylor and W. Beam.

Will Travel to Wakeman for

for Tilt Sunday

With an eye on eight straight victories, the Cardinals will travel to Wakeman to meet the Independents of that place. A real battle is anticipated as the Independents claim the tri-county championship.

In the past two months the local club has played sensational ball to nose out some of the fast teams in the various towns in the northwestern part of the state.

Hovey or Arnold will be on the hill for Cards, with Scanlon doing the receiving. The battery for the Wakeman club has not been announced.

The Cards will practice Wednesday and Friday evenings in preparation for the tilt.
