The lone Elyria marker came in the eight frame, when Gene Myers was hit by a pitched ball and scored on successive singles by Art Cook and Ralph Nichols.

Ragged support on the part of his teammates was responsible for most of the runs scored off the delivery of Smith, while the same sort of help also hurt Freddy Rule, who took up the burden in the fifth, although his wildness was also harmful.

The Nickolette brothers, Tom and Louie were the hitting stars of the game, each collecting three bingles. One of Tom’s was a triple.

The youthful Wellington Eagles put up their usual strong battle, but could not stop the slugging Wakeman Red Caps batters. Glenn Stevenson was not quite up to his fine form he has been displaying of late and the Wakeman hitters reached him for a total of thirteen bingles.

The winners’ runs were scored in pairs in the second, fifth and sixth frames. Wellington crossed the platter once in the eighth and again in the ninth.

"Lefty" Duncan, ace Wakeman slabster, had the misfortune of breaking his collar bone when he tripped over first base in the second inning. The Wakeman southpaw will probably be out for the remainder of the season.

The Amherst-Lorain Nativities game scheduled for yesterday and postponed, will be played on Sunday, July 31st, it was announced today by Rudy Ebinger, league secretary.

Only four men reached first base throughout the contest, two on walks, and the other two on errors. Thomas set down twenty via the strikeout route.
