About Us

The purpose of the Wellington Genealogy Group is to aid individuals with an interest in genealogy, to publish genealogy material of local interest, and to expand the resources of the genealogy department of Herrick Memorial Library.

In 2015 we decided to change our meetings so that meetings during the late fall and winter are held during the afternoon and meetings in the warmer months are held in the evening. Please note that our November 4th meeting will be held at the new time of 1 pm at the LCCC-Wellington Center - at 151 Commerce Drive. Please see more information by clicking on "Meetings" above. Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month. Annual dues are $10.00 per household. Guests are always welcome.

About Wellington

Wellington is located in the southern part of Lorain County and due to its location, is only a ten minute drive to Ashland, Huron, or Medina counties.

Wellington is best known as the home of Archibald Willard, the painter of the "Spirit of '76." Willard's grave can be found at the local Greenwood Cemetery.
