The purpose of the Wellington Genealogy Group is to aid individuals with an interest in genealogy, to publish genealogy material of local interest, and to expand the resources of the genealogy department of Herrick Memorial Library.
Starting with our May 6th meeting our programs during the summer will be held in the evening at 6:30 p.m. at the LCCC Wellington Center at 151 Commerce Drive. NOTE: August's meeting is a picnic held for members only. Please see more information by clicking on "Meetings" above. We are still meeting on the first Wednesday of every month. Wellington is located in the southern part of Lorain County and due to its location, is only a ten minute drive to Ashland, Huron, or Medina counties.
Wellington is best known as the home of Archibald Willard, the painter of the "Spirit of '76." Willard's grave can be found at the local Greenwood Cemetery.
