This letter was written on January 18, 1846. It is 156 years old now.  I still have the original in my possesion as it was passed down to me through my father after he passed on. It was originally given to Mary Jane Laughlin the daughter of John C.Laughlin whose brother Phillip Laughlin wrote it to John. Mary Jane passed it to Maggie Maroah Resler Hillard, my grandmother, her daughter and she passed it on to her son, my father, Owen Barns Hillard and then I received it, Robert Owen J Hillard, after my mother Frances Dororthy Palmberg Hillard passed away on 21 August 1991. John C. Laughlin was my gggrandfather on my dad's side of the family. I am a Laughlin researcher as well as Hillards, Reslers, Zuvers, Mercers, Kirtz, Owen, Bailey, Shorthill, Field, Kimball, and others. I hope some Laughlin researchers may find use of this letter. - ROBERT O HILLARD,  rojhillard@msn.com
