7700gremlin@email.msn.com, Oct. 21, 2001 - QUEEN, CARTER/KARTER

I'm looking for information on James H. Queen of Edgerton, Ohio. Was married to Catherine Carter (Karter) and last seen in Edgerton on the 1860 Census with one son David age 1 year. He enlisted in Co. H., 14th Ohio Vol. Inf. and was promoted to 1st sergeant in the Civil War. Left the unit when it was disbanded in Aug of 1861. My question is, after returning home did he die of wounds or related illness due to the war? Is he buried in Edgerton? This arises from the fact that his wife was remarried to a Geo Wanamaker and living in Washington Co. Ka, in 1870.

Gene Wyrick, genie@infinet.com, Oct. 30, 2001 - GIBBENS, FERRIER, HACKETT

Catherine Gibbens was born abt 1838 in Harrison county and she moved to Williams with her family. Her parents are Frederick Gibbons died Oct 18, 1888 and is buried at Buffalo Cemetery and Ann Ferrier who died Feb 16 1862 and is buried at Liggett cemetery. I'm told that the 1850 census has Catherine living with her uncle in Williams county. In 1856 Catherine at age 18, married William Hackett - they relocated later to Illinois and other locations due to his business in the construction trade. They eventually returned to Ohio and in about 1862 she died and I think she is buried in Williams county. I would like to find the cemetery where she is buried and any other information, background, story history etc that I can about Catherine and William.

Chad Baus, baushaus1@yahoo.com, Dec. 10, 2001 - TAYLOR, GILBERT

A few years ago, I purchased a family Bible from an Archbold, OH antique store. According to writing inside, the original owner was Sarah Taylor, b. 12/25/1825, d. 4/8/51 and m. 8/18/1844 to Jeremiah Gilbert. Her parents were John and Mary Taylor, from Wayne Co., OH. There are names & inscriptions in the family history section, both detailing Sarah's ancestors and descendants (her daughter Mary Catherine kept up with the record keeping after her mother died). An enclosed obituary cutout of Mary Catherine's indicates the family moved to Williams Co., OH in 1847. Since the day I bought it, I've become interested in my own family history, and I figure that this Bible would mean something to a descendant. I would certainly appreciate someone contacting me if it were an ancestor of mine! If these are your Taylors, please let me know. I'd only want to get my money back for the Bible if you did want it - I think I paid $50 or so...
