I'm wondering if anyone can help me find a recipe for "sausage candy". I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find it. I would like to include it with my family history/Christmas memories as something we remember as children, but now can't seem to find any family member with the recipe. We always had it while at my aunts in Jerry City (Cessna family) and I suspect it may have come from a church cookbook or the like. It was a chewy type center, shaped into a "sausage" shape and then rolled in chopped nuts. Can anyone help? Thank you!!

They were probably born in the Wood County area (their parents were anyhow). I do know that Sanford was born in June of 1884 and Lucy 24 March 1888. I have an obituary for Lucy but nothing on Sanford. I do know that they moved to Buckeye Arizona and both died there. Sanford's parents were William James Sly (b. 2 Nov 1859, d. 22 Jan 1931)and Ada B. Avery (b. 4 June 1860, d. 10 July 1926), both born and died in Wood County Ohio. Please email me with any additional information you may need. Thank you.

I'm researching my great grandparents who lived in Wood Ct., Ohio until about 1890. They are David Bredbinner (sometimes spelled different ways - have seen it spelled as Bretbiner) married to Caroline Castle, daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Castle. David is the son of John Adam Bretbiner & Katharine Russell who were married on 12/15/1839 in Richland, Ohio. Does anyone know anything about these people? I'm particularly interested in finding the parents of John Adam Bretbiner & Katharine Russell.

I was told by a friend that you could give me information. I am trying to find out any information on Philo Harris Holly. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in Ohio about 1862. He was captured and sent to Andersonville prison in GA. where he died on 9/14/1864. He is buried there. I am looking for any army records that you may have on him and also any information about who his wife was. Her name was Sarah Jane Schooley Holly. I think that she died in Wood Co at the home of her daughter Emma Holly Ott. I would like to know where she is buried. I understand that he left a wife and three children, Emma, Anna, and Lewis. Did the United States Government give out allowances to widows and children of the men who died at that time? His daughter was my grandmother Anna Mae Holly Burgdolt. Thanks for any help that you may be able to give to me. If there is a charge please let me know. Miriam Rothkopf, 63 Acre Dr., Washington, PA, 15301

Old Maplewood Cemetery tombstone records convince me that dau. Della (1864-1931) was married to T. Albert BALDWIN and dau. Hulda (1870-1906) to Samuel G. JESSOP. Based upon 1900 census, Della Baldwin had kids Ora (1881-1916 per tombstone)& Lulu (probably Lulu NORRIS,1884-1958, wife of Allen at death). I am serching for infromation on William Orville Carter, who died in 1930 as the result of suicide at the age of 43. A W. Carter is buried in the Wingston cemetary, Wood Co, O., but I have no proof that this is William O. Carter. I have in my possession written materials indicating that he had brothers named Lon, Ellis, who may have lived in Mich in their adult life. Lon's wife was either Vera or Verna, and Ellis's wife was Laura. Other brothers may have exsisted. Mothers name may have been Deliah who is buried in the Wingston plot along with a A. Lenard Carter who may have been the father. William Orville Carter was married to Maggie J. Sager in Hamler, Ohio in May of 1908.

The 1850 census of Wood County showed that Mary W. Kelley, wife of Benjamin Franklin Stiles was a next door neighbor of John W. Kelley. Mary was born in Ohio about 1834 and she died in the 1870's in Montcalm County, Michigan. She had 3 daughters, Harriet, Martha and Adelade, all of whom seemed to have lived in Montcalm and Gratiot Co. I have read the various Wood County Atlases but can find nothing connecting Mary to any other Kelley in Wood County. Do not have her marriage record or any other info. Who were her parents and siblings?
