Information on Rebecca Hite from Robert Sherwood: I was pleasantly surprised to find so much information about my family in Rebecca's scrapbook. Let me provide a little illumination about who Rebecca was and who I am. My name is Robert L. Sherwood. I am the Grandson of Mary Saul and Hoy P. Sherwood whose wedding announcement is included in Rebecca's scrapbook. I am the Great Grandson of George W. and Maggie (Pettey) Sherwood of Ashley (Delaware County), Ohio. Rev. Levi Bishop Sherwood, who pastored Rocky Fork, Primitive Baptist Church in Brush Hill Marion County was my Great-Great Grandfather. He also pastored Marlborough (Delaware County), and Honey Creek (Bloom Twp, Seneca County) as well. He is mentioned as marrying and burying many of the Hites, Seitzes, Spitlers, etc., in the scrapbook. Rebecca appears to have been the daughter of Elder Adam and Adaline Dove. She married Simon Hite, son of Martin and Emily (Swick) Hite of Antrim Twp. Simon was the brother of John Hite who married my 3rd Great Aunt, Margaret A. H.(Harriet) Sherwood, daughter of David and Margaret (Bishop) Sherwood of Troy Twp, Delaware County, Ohio, my 3rd Great Grandparents (Harriet is mentioned frequently in clippings in Rebecca's scrapbook). I would estimate that Simon and Rebecca (Dove) Hite were born around 1850/1860. My Grandmother, Mary Saul, was the daughter of Stephen A. and Martha Susannah (Weisenauer) Saul of Silver Valley Farm, Bloom Twp, Seneca County, Ohio. Stephen and Martha raised at least one other child of another family, whose name was Martha Dove. She later married Walter Schimpf, a farmer of Lykens, Crawford County, Ohio. It's quite possible that Martha was a niece or younger sister of Rebecca Dove Hite. Only had time to skim the scrapbook. Hope this information helps.
