Quaker cemetery in Tymochtee twp., Wyandot Co., OH

Located in Tymochtee township is on the west side of SH 67, 32 feet from the road and 52 feet north of CH 30, 0.8 mile north of Belle Vernon. The plat shows 250 graves in 8 rows. Burials begin about midway of the plat. Read from left to right starting at stones nearest the drive as you face the stones.

On February 15, 1840, the Society of Friends, better known as the Quakers, bought a tract from Levi Lundy in the southeast quarter of Section 24. The deed states, "for a burying ground and later a church for services for those buried therein." Four large boulders are embedded in concrete. These mark the corners of the foundation of the church, an 18 x 24 structure. No record is available as to whether it was a log or a frame building. There are Civil War servicemen buried in the cemetery, which is a little surprising, as the Quakers were known as a pacifist group. From Ghosts and Living page 125.
