| Spring Grove Cemetery in Crawford twp., on old US 23 and west northwest of the St. Mary's Cemetery that is on County Road 16. They are about a half a mile from each other. Both are north of Carey (location supplied by Scott Baker) |

Notes on Bechtel's from Jane Bechtel Fitting; Cincinnati, Ohio, *Pearl was the Great-granddaughter of Amelia BECHTEL, infant of William "Isaac" BECHTEL & Ellen Elvira "Vira" LILES. Wm. Isaac, who used Isaac as his 1st name, was the son of Daniel BECHTEL & 1st wife, Ruth REED. Daniel was a son of Henry & Amelia (NIGH/ NYE) BECHTEL. All of Henry & Amelia's children moved away from Carey, most to Shelby Co, IL.; Daniel moved there, had 8 children by his 1st wife Ruth, who died in IL.; Daniel moved back to Carey near his mother & enlisted in the Civil War. His children were kept for a few years by his Mother & her NIGH/ NYE brothers. |

Notes on cemetery from Sharon Copeland: Spring Grove Cemetery is not a really large cemetery. I really don't know how to describe the size. The old stones are in the middle and it is easy to walk to look for stones. There are three sections around the old section that have the newer stones - after 1900's. There is no office on the site and when I called a few years ago to the city of Carey they couldn't tell me who had the old interment records, maybe a different clerk would give you a different answer. Wyandot Tracers, I think, read the cemetery and published the names in one of their cemetery books. This was found by Carolyn Reinbolt: Politicians buried here:
