Wyandot county cemetery locations

Facts from Cemetery Book:

This was the cemetery of the John Carey Family for whom Carey, Ohio is named. In the 1960's the bodies in this cemetery were moved to Spring Grove Cemetery to make way for the new location of US Highway 23. No record is known of the one buried in the cemetery. Also, it is not known which bodies were moved.

In the early 1900's it became known as the Whaley Cemetery because descendants of John Carey who were named Whaley, then owned the land. John Carey came to this area in 1823 and died in 1875. The Carey family "hired girl" was buried in this cemetery, and it is believed that her body was the only one not relocated in another cemetery. Also, it is believed that no one was buried in this cemetery after 1940. The foregoing information was secured from Mrs. Ruth Riester, 340 East Hardin Street, Findlay, Ohio the present owner of the land. (Book printed in later 1980's)
