I am writing a history of the Holsted/Halsted
family. All the Holsted/Halsted's
in the Caddo/Kiowa County area
are descended from the Lemuel Holsted
who married Maranda Adams
in Searcy County AR.At least two
of Lemuels sons had descendents
who moved to the Caddo/Kiowa
County area. They were James
Wilson and Robert. Descendents of
Robert (married Frances Counts)
include Toby Lonzo, Russell,
Peter Roscoe(Pete), Molly
(married Westley Passmore),
Sally (married Jasper Sanders.
Descendents of James Wilson
(married Millie Hodges Adams)
who came to the area include
Minnie (married Emery Bryan),
Opal (married Floy Kelley),

like to share infomation with
anyone who is a descendent of

Reading, NY. He was married to
Mary Dunham. His father
was Benjamin Franklin Stamp,
date of death 30 September 1907,
and in his obituary it mention
Charles as "living in Fort
Cobb, OK, who lives but a few
miles southeast of Carnegie, and
is one of the most substantial
farmers and largest wheat growers
of the county." I would

Black are both buried in
Anadarko, but here again I don't
know where. If there is anyone
that has further information on
these two families I would be

living brother of Martha Suzan Gartrell
at the time of her death. Their

It is known that the Gartrell
family had lived in Taylor Co.
Iowa during the 1870s. Martha
Suzan Gartrell was married
to James William Davis in
1888 and it is believed that the
couple spent their life raising
their family in and around Taylor
Co. Iowa. Any information

family. 1. Fredrick Ulysses Borrell
He moved to Caddo Co between
1902-1905, and in 1910 he lived
in North Cement. Fredrick also
had several children that lived
in cement too. * Clyde William Borrell
was married to Lydia Markman
in Anadarko Dec 4, 1904. He moved
to Cement and is listed in the
1910 and 1920 census living in
Cement Twp. 6N 9W. He also served
one or two terms as Mayor of
Cement. Clyde was a homesteader,
he was lucky enough to be drawn
in the lottery they had during
the opening of the Oklahoma
plains. 2. Henry Borrell
This is Fredrick's brother he
also lived in Cement 1902- 1920.
I do have some pictures of the Borrells
from Cement, and some other oral
history handed down from Clyde Borrell.

know that Roy Nix married
Grace Curlee in April of
1919 in Tecumseh Oklahoma.
Sometime after that, they moved
to Anadarko Oklahoma, where they
spent most of the rest of their
lives. Grace died in 1973 in
Anadarko, and Roy in 1989 in
Chickasha. The parents of Grace,
Robert Jefferson (or possibly
Jefferson Robert) Curlee
and Dora Ware both died in
Anadarko as well.

Floyd Solomon,b. July, 19,
1909. Married Ollie Bessie Bruce,b.,
May 5, 1908 in Itasca TX. My Dad
was not sure exactly where in

Chickasha, Oklahoma. He never
found out before he died in Waco,
TX, May 20, 1986. My Dad did not
have much information on his
parents. All I know is that my
granddad's name was Albert
Isiac(not sure of spelling) Solomon,

unknown. My grandmother's maiden
name was Ada Ethel Prestidge,
date of death and birth unknown.
My parents were 40 years old when
I was born. They did not say much
about their history. I feel like

of Hotel Caddo in Oklahoma
in 1905. I"ve since come
across the same picture from a
distant family member which shows
the people in the picture to be

can't locate the magazine or

Heritage, Smithsonian, or some

Need help finding when and where
Louisa Alice Summers Taylor
died and where she is buried. She
was born 26 Feb 1869 in Brown Co,
Ill to Andrew Jackson Summers
and Elizabeth Squires. She
was married 14 Dec 1886 in
Lebanon, Mo to Hayden Jackson Taylor.
They went to Greer Co, OK around
Mangum about 1903. We believe she
died about 1912. Mr. Taylor
died 08 Apr 1956 and is buried in
the Masonic Cemetery at Hydro,
OK. According to his obit, he
also lived at Mustang and Tuttle
before going to the Hydro
community in 1928. They had four
children: Virgil W., Earl R.,
Orpha and Roxie. Mrs. Taylor
was my grandmother's sister. Any
help on this family would be
greatly appreciated.

His parents were Albert Isiac Solomon
and Ada Ethel Prestidge. I

than my granddad (Albert Isiac Solomon).

initials stood for Bessie James
and that he was a Reverend. He
married an Indian woman (name
unknown) and they lived on a
reservation in Anadarko. One of
their children was my grandfather
- Harrison Lewis (born
1908), who married Lenora Palmerin
Anadarko in October of 1929. In
1936, Harrison Lewis was
sentenced to serve 5 yrs in the
Penitentiary at McAlester for
stealing a mule from Sidney Hix
of Gracemont.

wife, Mary Parks probably
died there as well in 1924.

Margaret P. Burton, died
1915 in Duncan, Stevens County.
Had eleven children, all born in
Texas. At the time of his death,
he may have been living with his
son in law, Charles H. Boyles
of Anadarko.
