It is my hope to supply as much history and information for your research as I can. If you have Ancestors who lived in Cherokee Nation prior to Oklahoma being admitted to the Union, please consider sharing your information so that it may aid other researchers.
This site is a young one. We will be in need of photo's, stories, obituaries, marriage records, etc....Please consider sharing those.

The name Cherokee comes from the Creek word Chelokee meaning "people of a different speech." In their own tongue, the people of the Cherokee Nation called themselves Tsalagi.
There are three federally recognized groups. Those being the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians, Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of N. Carolina.

Do you know of old Forts located in Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory? If so, please e-mail me. I would really like to make this a wonderful, informative site, and I believe this can be accomplished with your help.....Thank You!
