Meetings and Upcoming Events

The Cotton County Oklahoma Genealogy Society will meet 7:00 P.M. on the fourth Monday of
each month at the Walters Public Library.

From Leona Whitehead:  Our holdings are in the genealogy section of the Walters Public Library.
Our microfilm includes, but is not limited to:  records form the county courthouse, funeral home
records, county cemteries, school census books and newspapers.  Among our books are :  Kiowa-
Comanche-Apache Land Opening 1901 Homestead Entry Listing, Lawton District Volume 1,
History of Cotton County, family histories, 1995 Cotton County Plats and high school yearbooks.

We have the Tri-City History Book, (Fletcher, Elgin, and Sterling family histories) as well as other
books on Comanche County and other Oklahoma counties.

We have been busy photographing headstones in Cotton County and we are working to put the information into
books.  We are working to put more than just the dates on the headstones, such as parents, spouse/spouses with
the marriage dates.  We hope to have it ready by the State's centennial.
