Jessie Pauline Crowson comes from a family who's roots grow deep in America. Her 5th great grandfather William C. Crowson was born 1694 in Accomack, Virginia. Her 3rd great grandfather, also named William Crowson fought in the Revolutionary War.

Jessie was born 12 April 1884 in Fulton, Callaway Co., MO to Thomas Felix and Maggie E. (Scott) Crowson and she had one brother named Frank. While they were still young, Frank and Jessie's parents died and they were raised by an Aunt named Agnes Fuller.

While working as the Postmistress at Crowson, Jessie met Joseph Alfred Peters, who also worked for the postal service. Joseph was born 1888 in Texas and was the son of Joseph Eli and Mary Margaret (Richardson) Peters. Jessie and Joseph were married 27 Nov 1909 in Bristow, Oklahoma and had 5 children Lee, Zelma, Irene, Ray and Roy. On Oct. 23 1918 Jessie died mysteriously while the family was all away from the house. When they returned home they found her dead in the kitchen, leaving Joseph with 5 children under the age of 8. Some have said she was scared to death when she looked out the kitchen window but no one really knows.

Joseph Peters married Verdie Weaver the following year and had 11 more children!
