The body of J. Wiley Cecil, 70 years old, of Shamrock, who succumbed at 7:05 am Monday, was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon in the Shamrock Cemetery, following funeral services at the Nazarene Church in Shamrock. His death followed a stroke of paralysis suffered two years ago.

The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. D. R. Miller. The Stubblefield funeral staff was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cecil was a native of Arkansas. He came to Shamrock in 1917, and was an employee of the Sinclair Oil company there for a number of years.

He later spent eight years in the employment of the Creek county highway department and a number of years as a city employee at Shamrock. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary E. Cecil; two sons, J. H. Cecil, of Burkburnett, Texas, and A. W. and T. H. Cecil, both of Drumright; one daughter, Mrs. Herman Anderson, of Shamrock and five sisters and two brothers.

The brother, J. R. Cecil, of Vandervoort, Ark., was at Mr. Cecil's beside when death came.

Mrs. Mary Olvira (Cecil) Gardner, age 75, wife of G. W. Gardner, succumbed about 5 am Sunday at the home 201 S. Skinner Avenue. She had been a resident of Shamrock from 1918 until she and her husband moved to Drumright only three months ago.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist church in Shamrock with the Rev. Mr. Bennifield of the Drumright Pentecostal church officiating. Burial was to be made in a Shamrock Cemetery.

Survivors other than the husband include three sons. J. H. Cecil, Burkburnett, Tex.; A. W. Cecil, Wichita Falls, Tex.; and Harley Cecil of Oklahoma City. Stubblefield funeral directors were in charge of funeral arrangements.
