Maud pastor dies Tuesday

J. H. Lawson, 68, minister of the Assembly of God church in Maud, OK died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday in a Shawnee hospital after suffering a heart attack Monday night.

Mr. Lawson was born in Oklahoma on March 21, 1891 and lived in Kellyville for several years. He came to Shawnee about 18 years ago and moved to Maud to take over the Assembly of God pastorate last year. He was a retired pumper for an oil company.

He was a member of the Maud Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. J. H. Lawson of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Edith McGuire of Kellyville, Mrs. Jannie Jackson of Sapulpa and Geraldine Lawson of 908 Buck Street, Shawnee; two sons, Kenneth of Sapulpa and Bobby of Tulsa; two brothers, Harvey who lives in California and Eddie in Maryland; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Banks and Mrs. Willie McGuire both of Kellyville, Mrs. Annora Waldrip of Sapulpa, Mrs. Rosie Fletcher of Oklahoma City and Mrs. May Clark in California; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Wilma Jean Lawson, died in 1951 and a son, Lester, in 1956.

Services will be announced later by Gaskill's.

Mrs. Lawson Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Josephine Lawson, 71, 111 W. Ross, died Wednesday afternoon at Bartlett Memorial Hospital.

She was the widow of Rev. J. H. Lawson, who died in 1960 and was born in Springfield, MO., July 20, 1897. She had lived 20 years at Kellyville before moving to Shawnee for several years and returned here six years ago. She was a member of the Assembly of God church.

Survivors are two sons, Kenneth, 202 W. Burnham; Bobby of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Jannie Jackson, 925 N. Elizabeth; Mrs. Geraldine Dodson, Route two Sapulpa; 19 grandchildren; a brother, Bob James, Stroud and three sisters, Mrs. Velma Vaughn, 26 W. Ross; Mrs. Susie Brumley 24 W. Ross and Mrs. Iva Uptegraft, Tulsa.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kellyville Assembly of God with the Rev. Tom Goins officiating. Interment will be in Sunrise cemetery under direction of Owen Funeral Home.

The family is headquartering at the Kenneth Lawson home, 202 W. Burnham.
