Cite Your Sources Here: Notes for SAMUEL DUNCAN: There is a Samuel Duncan: age 39 (about 1895)..living in Texanna, Indian Territory, who received money from the Old Settler funds either in 1895 or 1896. He is also listed as William W. Duncan son along with, Felix G. Duncan, Taylor Duncan sons also of William Wirt Duncan. It is very likely Samuel was a son of William Duncan's from still another marriage. If the ages of Samuel, Felix Grundy., and Taylor on the 1896 Old Settlers Roll are correct, it is likely William either had three wives about the same time, or he fathered children by three women during this time. Notes on page 445 in Starr's book that he shows Taylor Duncan with a line between his name and the names of his three siblings--Felix Grundy, Mary Lunnie, and William Wirt Jr.. This signifies that Taylor was the son from one marriage, the other three from a different marriage. Although Starr only shows the name of one of the wives (Nancy Ann Starr) of William Wirt Duncan Sr. On page 442, we now know from Taylor application that another wife was Lydia Tehee.
