Recorded for the VFW State Graves Registration project by Miss Odessa Ray, Crescent, Oklahoma, and transmitted to OGS on 18 January 1965.  Miss Nola Rigdon assisted with recording of the Oak View or Banner; Mr. Alton Jones with the Oakland or Knowles; and Mr. Velvie Bridal with the Crescent Cemetery.  The name of John M. Pardue was obtained from the Special 1890 U.S. Census of Union Veterans transcribed by Mrs. M.C. Cooter and published recently by OGS.

 

 

OAK VIEW, OFTEN CALLED BANNER CEMETERY

 

Oak View Cemetery, often called Banner because of the Banner schoolhouse that used to stand across the road from the cemetery, also some times referred to as the Lovell Cemetery.  It is located in the SW corner of SW1/4 of Section 21, Township 18 N. Range 4 West, or 3 miles south of Lovell, or 4 mi. north on Hiway (sic) 74, and then 3 miles west of Crescent, Logan Co., Okla.  Rows are numbered from west to east.

MT. HOPE CEMETERY, USUALLY CALLED DUNKARD CEMETERY

 

Mt. Hope, or Dunkard Cemetery is located in SE corner of SE1/4 of Section 33, Township 18, North Range 3 West.  Located 2 miles north on Hiway (sic) 74, and then 4 East of Crescent, Logan Co., Okla. or 2 North and 3 East of the Crescent cemetery.

Logan Co., Okla. or 2 ½ miles south and 1 ½ miles west of Crescent, Okla.  Rows are numbered from west to east and north and south.  The North, or old section consists of 3 acres and the south or new section also has 3 acres.

SERVICE MEN BURIED IN THE CRESCENT CEMETERY

 

Crescent cemetery is located in S.W. corner of SW1/4 of Section 7, Township 17 North Range 3 West.  Logan County, Okla., or 1 ½ miles east of Crescent on Hiway (sic) 74 C. from the intersection of 74 and 74 C on the north side of Crescent.  It consists of 15 acres.  The south 5 acres is the old cemetery; middle 5 acres was next section opened; and then the north 5 acres is the new section.   (Cem. Rec.)  Means that date or information was taken off the cemetery record book.  Date in Cemetery book is the date of burial in Crescent cemetery.
