Miss Thys has
a brief obituary of an Elijah Banks, probably of some relationship to Morgan
Banks, Notary Public. Elijah, a pioneer
to McPherson Co., in 1871 d. 10 miles south of Gypsum, the farm on which he
resided since 1871. (sic) Elijah was
79 years of age when he died. He was a
brother of Capt. Banks, Mayor of Salina, Kansas in 1887. (Unfortunately this obituary like many old
obituaries was not clipped to include the date and name of the newspaper in
which it appeared, neither was this essential information added; therefore, it
is offered only as a small clue to time and place for the Banks brothers and
not as evidence.)
