BOOGER HOLLER -A Box Canyon
BOOGER HOLLER CANYON is located in the northern part of Harmon County near the Sulphur Community and Vinson, Oklahoma. The story goes, Old Man David lived in a box canyon and was very unfortunate in appearance. Yes, he could be called ugly. He was apparently aware of this problem and he never visited with anyone, he was considered a peculiar character and was a very private person. The box canyon had only one way out. He would be trapped in by snow many winters and no one would see him for months at a time. The canyon was a perfect place for hiding and could probably tell many exciting stories of cattle rustlers and bands of outlaws, were it able to talk. It remains a very secretive place, ideal for hiding. This box canyon was never called "Booger Holler" in front of Mr David but since his death folks have always referred to this section of Harmon County, as........ "Booger Holler".
