Evelyn MATHIS AUTRY
Memorial services were held March 9 at Williamson Funeral Home Chapel for Evelyn MATHIS AUTRY. Rev. Don WILLIAMSON officiated at the services.
Ms. AUTRY was born July 1, 1924 in Arkansas to William Harrison and Minnie Dean MATHIS and died March 6 at the age of 79.
Ms. AUTRY moved to Wetumka with her family. She was married to John Franklin “Frank” AUTRY on June9, 1948 in Tulsa. They established a home on a ranch between Wetumka and Okemah. She helped to haul horses, round up cattle, feed cattle and horses, pickup brush and rocks and the many tasks demanding on a working ranch. Her husband preceded her in death on June 25, 1973.
She was a homemaker who loved children and her family. She also loved to cook and entertain. She baked hundred of cookies, cakes and pies for horse shows, Wetumka school actives for her daughter and other community events. She prided herself upon having food for unexpected guests and for events such as the annual Easter egg hunt at the AUTRY Ranch.
Preceding her in death besides her husband was her parents, 13 brothers and sisters, and an infant son, John Franklin AUTRY Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Jo Lynn and husband, Swen, of Muskogee; a grandson, Shawn, of Oklahoma City; and two great-grandchildren, Kylee and Nathaniel FRANKLIN.
