Services Slated Here On Tuesday For Harve BALL

    Harve BALL, pioneer, stockman and police officer of Hughes County died at his home Sunday afternoon at the age of 82(?) following an illness of several months.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barnard Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Clayton JOHNSEY, pastor, officiating. Assisting will be Rev. J. E. KIRK of Oklahoma City, former Baptist minister here.

    Burial will be in the Holdenville Cemetery, under the direction of Hudson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state this evening and Tuesday prior to services.

    Mr. BALL was born May 24, 1877, in Macon County, Mo., the son of Methodist minister Joseph Wells BALL and Annie E. BALL. He came with his parents through Hughes County when he was only one year old. The family crossed Grayson's Crossing near Atwood, went to Denison, Tex. and later moved to Oklahoma City.

    At an early age, Mr. BALL went to Butte, Mont., with several of his brothers and worked in gold mines. He later broke horses and worked for a stage line at Sheridan, Twin Bridges and Virginia City, Mont.

    After this, Mr. BALL returned to Oklahoma City where he registered for land and drew a homestead claim near Lone Wolf in Kiowa Co. While he lived at Lone Wolf, his parents moved to Holdenville. He later sold the claim in about 1900 and joined his family here, where his father continued as a Methodist minister.

    Mr. BALL operated a livery stable and dray line at what is now the Elk's Lodge. On Nov. 12, 1905, he married the former Alma BRYSON, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John BRYSON of Holdenville.

    He served on the city council, was a member of a volunteer fireman and a member of the city's football team. Mr. BALL then went into the mule, horse and cattle business, in which he was active until a few months prior to his death.

    Mr. BALL at one time was president of the Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association of Oklahoma, a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Tree Blazers Organization and Pioneer Men's Club of Holdenville.

    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Harve BALL, of the home at 424 W. Choctaw; one son, Eugene Bryson BALL, 400 W. Choctaw, the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eugene BALL, and one grandson, Randolph Bryson BALL, same address.

    Also two brothers, Fred BALL of Holdenville and Doc BALL of Oklahoma City, three sisters, Mrs. Bill MATHEWS and Mrs. Nell SMITH, both of Shawnee, and Mrs. George MCMURRY of Holdenville; and many nieces and nephews in the area. A number of relatives are residing in Montana.

    Active pallbearers will be Paul BALLINGER, Hugh SANDLIN, Jimmie BAKER, Fred PARSONS, John JACOBS and Willard DARKS of Wetumka.

    Honorary bearers will be Ralph MCLEAN, Alfred STEVENSON, Bontie ABERNATHY, Bill BARTLETT, Charles HAMILTON, Cecil HAMILTON, Loyd JENKINS, Fred TREADWELL, Herbert OWENS, Brent DENNIS, Billy MOSS, Bill ENOS, Cloe ELLIS, Bill SMITH, Stanley ROGERS, W.
