Walter Kano LEWIS

    Funeral services for Walter Kano LEWIS of Henryetta were held May 22 at Robert Simons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene HARJO officiating.

    He was born Jan. 18, 1941 in Hanna to Jonas Lewis KANO and Alice SIMMONS LEWIS and died May 18 at his home in Henryetta.

    Mr. LEWIS had lived most of his life in the Dustin and Henryetta area.

    He married Alice HARJO in 1971 at Hutchechuppa Baptist Church.

    Mr. LEWIS retired from the city of Henryetta serving in the water department. He loved fishing, farming, traveling and gospel singing. He was a long time member and deacon of the Hutchechuppa Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby daughter in 1975, two brothers, Kenneth LEWIS and Eldon LEWIS, on sister, Nahka CARPITCHER, two wives, Mary Ann BARNETT LEWIS in 1969  and Alice HARJO LEWIS in 1993.

    Survivors include two daughters, Leah SOLOMON of Sapulpa and Wanona COCHRAN  of Henryetta; two sons, Walter LEWIS Jr. of Henryetta and Sunday LEWIS of Sapulpa; one sister, Fannie BARNETT  of Dewar; two brothers, Sonnie Lewis KANO of Dustin and Bunny LEWIS of Hanna; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

    Interment was in the LEWIS Family Cemetery in McIntosh County under the direction of Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta.
