Maggie Lee MAROON
Funeral services were held May 26 at the Calvin Pentecostal Holiness church for Maggie Lee MAROON. Rev. Gary GRAVES officiated at the services.
Mrs. MAROON was born Sept. 17, 1908 in Wetumka to Fred SMITH and Lulu (ANDREWS) SMITH and died May 23 at the Holdenville General hospital. She was 90 years old.
She was reared in the Calvin area and attended Spring Creek and Bear communities schools. In 1924 she was married to Tommy F. MAROON in Calvin and moved to Calvin and lived there until moving to Holdenville in 1959. Mrs. MAROON worked as a cook at the P & S Hospital and then at Holdenville General Hospital and then later at Boyce Manor Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to fish, sew and crochet.
Mrs. MAROON was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, on July 18, 1972; a daughter, Mildred DOCKERY in 1994; a grandson, Leon DOCKERY in 1986; a brother, Robert SMITH and a sister, Josie RILEY.
Survivors include a son, Melvin MAROON and wife, Caroled, of Bristow; five grandchildren, Connie DAY and husband, Richard, Calvin, Leroy MAROON and wife, Barbara, Kimberling City, Mo., Anita VANDEWEGHT and husband, Edwin, Bristow, and Tommy MAROON, Bristow; 14 great-grandchildren including Michael DOCKREY and wife, Christina, and Lonnie DOCKERY, all of Calvin.
Interment was at the Calvin Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
