be of help you with your searches.  We would like to encourage you to join our society.  Dues are only $10.00 per year, and this will
entitle you to copies of our Quarterly "Smoke Signals".  Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the Community Room of the
First National Bank, 1749 N. Main St. in Miami, OK.  By clicking on the word application listed below.  Just fill it out, enclose check for your dues,
along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope and mail to the address listed on the application.

                                                                                                                            MEETING FOR MAY 21, 2012



The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 21st, in the Community Room of the First National Bank, 1749 North Main Street, in Miami, Oklahoma. Olive Goad and Carolyn Leach will serve as hostesses and refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.: during the problem solving session. A brief business meeting followed by the program will begin at 7:00 p.m. As always, the public is invited to attend.


As part of the society Back to Basics series of programs, “Cemetery Hoppin' with Linda and Glendia” will be presented. Long time family researchers Linda Sawvel and Glendia White will take those attending on a journey, by PowerPoint, through many cemeteries in the 4-state area. While involved with the Cemetery Readers Group from Delaware County Oklahoma, they noticed how many unique and unusual stones there were. With a desire to share the unique stones of the area and knowledge they acquired while doing this research, this special presentation promises to be interesting and insightful.


Both ladies are long time, active members of the Delaware County Genealogical Society (DCGS), based in Grove, Oklahoma. They also belong to numerous other organizations, have taken part is several genealogical projects and have years of experience in genealogical research. Additionally, White serves as the President of DCGS.
